Waiting for the metro
Day 2: June 17, 2008

HI everyone!! We got everybody safe from their flights, a little bit jet lagged, but still, they did such a great job!! We checked in at the hotel , found out thet the hotel is pretty good here in Madrid, our rooms are appartment style, they even have a kitchen!! Anyway, we are not far away from downtonn, it's like a twenty minutes metro ride, so right after checking in we took the metro to visit the city. Our visit began in the Puerta del Sol, where the 0 km for every road in Spain is; all roads in Spain are supposed to begin from this place, and the counting of the distances have this as the reference point. then we walked down to see the House of Parliament, and then keep walking for the Prado Museum. This is the second biggest museum in Europe, right after the Louvre in Paris, and it has paintings by spanish painters such as Velazquez or Goya. Then, right after the visit, we took the metro again for dinner, left the metro at the Gran Vía, where nice big theaters are still in use, and walked to the restaurant. Finally, we got back to the hotel again using the metro system, and finished this loooooooong day.
