Day 2: June 22, 2006
Our party from Maryland arrived safely, and we went into Glasgow to visit the historic cathedral and the centre of this great Victorian city. Unfortunately, our Kansas contingent were held up in Chicago, though hopefully they'll be joining up with us tomorrow. We stopped at Loch Lomond, the beautiful stretch of water that has rightly now been granted the status of a national park, before heading North-East, through Perth and into the rugged landscape of the Highlands. The views are stunning, lochs, glens, and barren peaks dotted with sheep and red deer. We arrived at our hotel in the small town of Ballater in the evening, only a few miles from the Queen's summer residence at Balmoral. Tomorrow we're going monster-spotting!
